Father Stefano M. Manelli is the founder of the Franciscans of the Immaculate, who are constantly increasing numerically but still end up in the eye in the Vatican cyclone for reasons that still go astray. But here we are not talking about these, but about the parents of the founder, Settimio Manelli (1886-1978) and Licia Gualandris (1907-2004). They were tertiary Franciscans and disciples of another famous Franciscan, Father Pio, who did not stop them - indeed encouraged them - to generate twenty-one children.
