L'istinto altrove on Unfolding Roma

We have already met Michela Zanarella who, this time with a new strength, shares her thoughts with her readers. For those who know and follow it will be inevitable not to notice how his verses reflect thoughts in the making. She never stops at a single topic and reading it is like talking to her. For those who follow Zanarella, she already knows that through writing and especially in poetry, the author loves to put all herself without filters while telling a story that starts from the first composition and ends at the last.
A preface with an exceptional signature, that of the extraordinary Dacia Maraini, opens this collection of poems entitled "Instinct elsewhere" for Giuliano Ladolfi Editore (pp. 90, Euro 10.00) dedicated to love where all are represented the typical nuances of this feeling. Here it is again in the simplicity of his verses, relaxed and clear. Free verses in which love is the protagonist in all its facets or phases. From waiting, to regret, from desire to hope to pain. The distance and the distance between two people. An alternation between singing and prayer.

There is the yearning for love: / It keeps me alive / the thought of a time / spent filling me / of your silences.// There is life force and an explosive energy to the point that in some ways it almost seems to to hear her scream, it almost seems to hear her recite an ode, perhaps on a stage: / I would come to embrace you as the sun does when it rises on the earth and I would give you my words to unite them to your silence.// There is the impetus of the desire when in a single composition the words are concentrated: it demands - I can't - I want it back, desire that goes out when it is overcome by discouragement: Even if you don't come / to look for me among the people / I still have the love / you gave me that / it repairs me from life.// There is hope: / I don't ask you to answer me / in the exact same measure / but if you can let me be / like the sea foam on your skin.// There is the past and the time that passes between the verses of these compositions: / I do not sfu gge nothing about you / while I watch the seasons change / while I try to defend myself from the past.//
I would venture to say that in some passages there is no difference between the reading of poetry and that of a diary. Michela Zanarella speaks to a person but the poetic technique creates the impression that the message is addressed to love understood as a feeling. Therefore few rhetorical figures as proof of its simplicity but the right ones to give emphasis where it is needed. If you are new to poetry, the compositions by Michela Zanarella for their immediacy are certainly a great start. If on the contrary you are already navigated in this sector of literature, it will surprise you to see how poetry becomes a voice that does not create limits. Zanarella's poems are an experience that should be done as such.
