L'istinto altrove on Lettera43

The last literary work of the poet, journalist and playwright Michela Zanarella is entitled the expression "Instinct Elsewhere" which almost seems also a verse of one of the profound lyrics that make up the collection itself.

The anthology published by Giuliano Ladolfi Editore contains 72 poems and has as a preface a critical note by the writer Dacia Maraini, leading author of our Italian panorama from the 70s and with a great cultural and human depth. The poems from the beginning are filled with a profound reflection on the human soul and above all on how in the feeling of love, the root of the verb "to love" means first of all the search for the very reasons of life while the poetic expression corresponds precisely to the Instinct: "... love takes us far and away from the real world to embrace what you believe to be or really are the reasons for our life, so poetry allows itself the freedom of connections, digressions, loss of meaning ..." quoting precisely the same preface by Maraini.

Going one after the other the images used often come from the world of nature and the cosmos, symbols that recall all four elements of nature used by pre-Socratic philosophers in their investigation: but here the search for images is such as to create nuances and settings and no search for meaning, the images of nature are the background to the musicality of the lyrics, where poetry is instinct and not reflection or reason. So here the Cartesian "cogito" is not recognized at all: it represents almost "the animal instinct" of the poetic verse.

The poetry of the Paduan poet is a poem that can be defined as profoundly authentic, visceral, recalling the same metaphors used in the poetic verses by the author, and dramatically real in the pain tried and sought in the investigation of the word: in this perhaps Zanarella perhaps remembers the search for the "sublime" of Pablo Neruda in his very important twentieth-century romanticism. Poems that can be read with the colors, the flavors, the sensations of impact, of the belly, and as in the sky full of stars we continue to dream together with the great sensitivity and the brilliant talent of this important poet of our contemporary poetry. In short, another collection, another small masterpiece.
