The novel can be taken as a symbol of an entire generation, the one born in the Eighties, and tells the story of Giovanni, a diligent and calm adolescent, all school, oratory and football. The gift of a collection of Queen's songs produces a radical change in him and makes him keen on rock concerts. He is joined by a group of friends with whom he shares a love of music. They grow up without realising it: some suddenly fall in love; some decide to radically change their lives; some risk losing their lives too soon.
The text can rightly be considered a Bildungsroman, a real training novel, at the turn of the 20th century and the year 2000.
"Rock Doesn't Dance in Mask', the author's debut novel, finds inspiration in his love of music.
