This anthology aims to provide information on contemporary Guatemalan poetry through a selection of verses by 25 poets. The chronological span represented opens with Miguel Ángel Asturias, born in 1899, and closes with Luis Méndez Salinas, born in 1986. A time frame of about a century if we take into account their date of birth, within which the literary production of the poets considered is placed, most of whom have won important prizes and whose work enjoys public and critical acclaim.
