What is striking in the whole poem by Kathleen Jamie is the immediacy combined with the depth of thought. His is a very lucid language and bare, devoid of academicism, which does not need frills, only apparently simple, and whose rhythms are constructed so as to obtain all the naturalness of the spoken language. It is a distilled tongue, thin, full of surprising metaphors, whose musicality is enhanced by the rhythm and by the Scottish accents spoken, especially when she read her poetry (Giorgia Sensi).
