Ignacio Rodríguez Galván (1816-1842) is considered the first Mexican Romantic poet, the first 'cursed poet', who wrote from a mestizo perspective and managed to gain access to a literary culture that was previously reserved only for Creoles. He composed novels, plays and poems.
His works have never been translated into Italian and perhaps not even into other European languages.
Here we present his verse texts in the splendid translation by Emilio Coco, who with great skill and passion managed to reproduce their metrics, musicality and meaning.
