Greco Mario e Greco Libero

Libero Greco is one of our lands, born in fact in Novara in 1941, at the dawn of a devastating war. His father Mario gave him the name Libero, hoping for better times.

He chooses to deal with architecture, which he confronts with dedication and diligence with his wife Carlotta, who is also an architect.

The free profession has never prevented him, however, to push his attention even on different terrains: the visual arts and literature will accompany his whole life.

The name Libero seems to have been a sign of destiny, because it defends its meaning with great tenacity, it is not willing to come to petty terms or be renouncing its convictions, rather defends it stubbornly trying to never be trivial.

He argues that there are no boundaries between different ways of expressing oneself, it is sufficient to use the most appropriate tools at the right time. Put the pen down and take the brush or describe in words what could be molded into the material.

It is a way of conceiving doing without limits and without complexes, the only concern must be to pursue the quality of what is being done, and it is not so easy.

Mario Greco was born in Davoli, a small town in the Gulf of Squillace in Calabria. It grows like all the children of that age, playing and studying hard, attending the Liceo Classico in Catanzaro and subsequently enrolled in law, first in Catanzaro and then in Rome, where he obtained a second degree in philosophy.

It marries with Ida Formenti di Galliate who knows for one of the many circumstances that foresees randomness.

Participates in and wins a Magistrate competition by serving at the Court of Genoa.

He died very young on October 4, 1951, leaving his wife and two children, Marzia and Libero. They will be difficult years, but the bell rings for everyone. Bequeath to his son Libero the curiosity of the narrator who in his mature age finds the opportunity to investigate his father with great care and a beautiful memory.
