Picco Valentina

Valentina Picco devotes herself to research in the fields of literature and photography, teaching Italian literature and history at the three-year high school level. From a young age she has studied and practised theatre, dance and cinema.

He trained with Oreste Valente, an actor and director graduated from the Bottega Teatrale directed by Vittorio Gassman and Barbara Altissimo, for whom he played several roles in plays. She attended various theatre research courses, including a seminar with Judith Malina and Hanon Reznikov, of the Living Theatre. As soon as she graduated, she attended a three-year academy of contemporary dance, directed by Ariella Vidach, after which she began her activity as a choreographer creating solos, joining the dance company Peripezie Urbane, founded in Milan by Giovanni Sabelli Fioretti. She continued her training in Amsterdam, where she had the opportunity to be an assistant for a video dance project and later on in a performance by choreographer Anouk Van Dijk.

In the visual field, he studied by participating in seminars for video-making, including a film workshop directed by Marco Bellocchio, he made short films taking care of the shooting and editing, obtaining several awards, including an award from Maurizio Nichetti, Franco Piavoli and Silvano Agosti, for whom he managed the Piccolo Cinema Paradiso cinema theatre in Brescia for three years.

From 2017 to 2019 he attended lessons in Eurythmy with Verilla De Toni and Werbeck singing, with Armenian teacher and choir and orchestra conductor Arthur Asryan.

Studying in the fields of movement, singing and film allows her to deepen a sense of rhythm that she constantly experiments with reading and writing, her favourite activities. Her incessant research also leads her to the Fudenji Monastery of the Soto Zen School, where she is inspired by the words of Master Fausto Taiten Guareschi and by the silence of which those places, and the practice that takes place there, are permeated.

She currently continues her artistic research in the fields of language and photography (specialising in self-portraits), the use of the body and voice, practising theatre with director, actor and musician Nicola Caruso, also trained in Psychophony and Vocal Functionality. He collaborates in the organisation of theatrical events, most recently Cantieri Italia by choreographer Barbara Altissimo.
