The so-called post-modernity is not primarily characterized by atheism: the end of the great narratives, secularization, nihilism, relativism, liquidity seem to give birth more easily idolatry, the neopaganesimi, syncretism, a renewed openness to religion. Yet there is in fact, in this first part of the twenty-first century, a strong presence of atheism in publishing, in journalism, in the media, in the language. [...] We could define a trans-modern atheism, as it combines modern forces and weaknesses postmodern; does not argue any universality but proclaims his universalizability, using massively virtuality and network. ...

Reflecting on the already extensive critical literature that accompanies this "new" atheism, I hypothesize that what characterizes both the predominantly come after something to pass, nell'ibridismo the post and the trans: after modernity and beyond the end of modernity, after 'humanism, after religions, ideologies after, after the September 11, after atheism and beyond the end of atheism.

If the multiple modern atheism tends toward atheism absolute and systematic, if atheism postmodern appears finished among other idolatries, seems to me that this atheism after over-the modern tent to pass as "atheism atheist" [...] Nell 'atheism atheist, the double negative of the noun and the adjective means the attempt of a zero but that is only apparent because while twice denied God, the same is twice the appointment, so that it appears impossible to deny God without naming "(from "Introduction").
