Winner of the national philosophy award "The Figures of Thought" as the best philosophical novel
The book proposes an analysis of human behaviors, identifying the common denominator in the "ego-convenience". Finding himself in a dark cave, a metaphor for consciousness, John meets an old man, a symbol of past philosophy and the author himself. The physical path of the protagonist, therefore, is also and above all an introspective journey and is divided into three parts: the first (which represents the thesis) is a sort of initiatory rite to the new philosophical vision, in which the old dismounts John's illusions placing individuality and personal interest at the center of every action; the second (the antithesis) is dedicated to the alleged rebuttals by John, punctually denied by the old man; the third represents the moment of synthesis, in which a new figure is outlined, the "knight of advantage". John, now aware of the lies of morality, will have to return to plunge into the world and make it his own. Inside the story there are direct and indirect quotations from the great philosophers of the past, the giants on whose shoulders this "nana philosophy" poses, quoting Bernardo from The story and can be placed in a contemporary context, but the topics dealt with refer to any era.
