Mario Luzi is not a simple author: the more one reads it, the more one realizes that he has understood very little of that long poetic work that lasted seventy years. Yet today more than ever, there is a need to bring it back to the attention of critics, universities, young people, the mass media. In him there are the individual, social, political, philosophical, theological and moral problems and issues that affect contemporary culture, and the knowledge of his texts helps us to understand our situation in depth. The complexity of his works has hitherto prevented a synthetic gaze capable of embracing his production in verse. This study aims to fill this gap and for the first time deals with Luzi's compositions according to an Idealtypus that allows to give meaning and meaning to the entire extraordinary human and poetic journey of a writer destined to mark a dividing line in the history of the Italian and world poetry.
