When we think of the "American dream" the historical monologue of Martin Luther King comes to mind, in reality the American dream was born on the hills of Hollywood, where some Jewish entrepreneurs founded the symbol of the Promised Land, where anyone could have become a star of cinema, an authentic symbol of success and glory. "More stars than in the sky" was the motto of Metro Goldwyn Mayer, but many stars shattered, plunging into dark and deep abysses, revealing the dark side of the show business. And for many protagonists of cinema, entertainment and music, the American dream has turned into an authentic nightmare.

The Crime Must Go On tells dozens of judicial and criminal cases of well-known international stars who have committed crimes, crimes, crimes of all kinds and have lived long periods of prison detention. Some are still detained and will never return to freedom, as in the case of Bill Cosby, the American father of the TV series I Robinson, who at the age of 81 is imprisoned for raping sixty women during his life.

A twofold narrative, that of the profound contradictions of the star system and the penitentiary system which reveals that prison is not an instrument of rehabilitation but of pure oppression.

Starting from the old Hollywodland, from the protagonists of the silent movies, the story extends to today's America and in a sort of time travel to other countries, from Jamaica to Russia, from Egypt to India, from the United Kingdom to the Italy.

The book also tells about the dramatic events of some innocent Italian artists who have been persecuted by malice justice such as Enzo Tortora, Lelio Luttazzi, Franco Califano and others.
