Vera D'Atri was born in Rome in March 1948. She has lived in Naples since 1992. She qualified as an archivist at the State Archives in Naples.

It was only after 1997 that she became interested in writing, writing numerous short stories and some short poems that were part of the collection Abitare Sparta, with which she received a mention of merit at the seventeenth edition of the Lorenzo Montano Prize. This was followed by a small poetic collection published by Edizioni della Biblioteca and edited by Giovanni Pugliese entitled Il museo di vaniglia and, in 2009, the publication of the collection Una data segnata per partire, published by Kolibris with a preface by Rossella Tempesta.

She has also published a number of short stories in anthologies and magazines and a novel Buona bella brava, published by Robin Edizioni in 2010 and reviewed by Enzo Rega in L'Indice dei libri.

His poems appear in magazines, cultural inserts and numerous blogs ("Opere inedite" by Luigia Sorrentino, "Il giardino dei poeti", "Transiti poetici", "La casa senza tempo", "La stanza di Nightingale", "Gli occhi di Blimunda", "Poetarum silva", "Pioggia obliqua", "WSF", "Atelier", "Versante ripido", "Disgrafie", "Infiniti mondi").

She is also present in the anthologies La giusta collera, published by CFR, Alter ego - Poeti al MANN, Contatti diversi, I quaderni di Movimento Aperto, Scrittura sottovoce, Voci dell'aria, La parola abitata, Umana troppo umana e la grande madre and is one of the winners of the competition "La vita in prosa 2011" with a short story published in the anthology edited by Ivano Mugnaini and with another story she came second in the competition "Scrivere a corte", also in 2011. She came third in the poetry section of the 2012 Di Liegro Prize. She was also a finalist in the poetry section of the Edizioni d'If Mazzacurati-Russo Prize 2012-2013 with the plaquette Tutte donne. In May 2013, the plaquette Una tenace invadenza was published by Libro Aperto Edizioni. In October 2013, she was a finalist in the second edition of the Michele Sovente Prize, unpublished poetry section. He read at the National Library of Naples for the "Veduta Leopardi" event. In March 2016 he published his poetry collection Il Fortino edited by Terra d'ulivi edizioni, with which he won first prize in the "L'iguana" Castello di Prata competition (a tribute to Ortese). One of his short essays was published in the magazine Trivio 2017'. Some of his unpublished works appear in issue 6 of the magazine 'Levania' and in the regional page of Campania's 'la bottega della poesia' edited by Eugenio Lucrezi.
