Loi Franco

Franco Loi was born in Genoa in 1930 and moved to Milan in '37. In 1960 he was hired by Mondadori and worked there until 1983. Since 1987 he writes for the cultural supplement of the "Sole-24 Ore".

In 1973 in Milan by Edizioni Thirty his first collection of poems, The carts, with designs by Eugenio Toniolo; Einaudi published the poem in 1975 Stròlegh, with a preface by Franco Fortini. Among the thirty books published to date should be mentioned: Teater, poems with introduction by the author (Einaudi, 1978), air (Einaudi, 1981), Bach (Schiewiller, 1986), Liber (Garzanti, 1988), Umber (Manni , 1993), The angel, a poem in four parts (Knopf, 1994), Isman (Einaudi, 2002) and, again Einaudi, 2005, the anthology Air de memory. It is 2011, the output from Aragno of Angel de air.

It should be added the incessant activity poetic prose work: in 1995, with a preface by David Swifts, short Diary (New Society Publishing) and in 2001 the book of short stories The amplitude of the sky (IM Gallino) and the anthology of Italian poetry of the late twentieth century, the dominant thought, prepared and edited by David Swifts Garzanti in 2003 the volume Milan route between the poetry of Delio Tessa, in 2010 Garzanti publish the interview by Mauro Raimondi As a child the sky, biography of the life and thought; The light of poetry in 2011 for editions of the University of Parma.

His poems have been translated in various countries of Europe and Asia, Brazil, Venezuela and the United States. He has received numerous awards, including the "Bonfiglio" in 1976, the "Nonino" in 1990, "Librex-Montale" in 2005, the prize "Pastures" and "Port Charles", and was awarded the Medal 'Gold of the Province of Milan, dell'Ambrogino Gold Seal of the City and of the Lombard Region Lombardy.

In connection with the completion of 80 years, Walter De Santi has edited a collection of essays on his poetry, published by Pazzini (Verrucchio Rn) in 2011 with the title Franco Loi at the finish line of eighty, Vol. X of the magazine "The frank talk."
