To act as a common thread to the story is the meeting / clash between the typical carefree age of the protagonist and the experienced debilitating disease, with which the young must begin to live.

"Through this book I wanted to talk about Alzheimer's disease in all its hardness and complexity through the eyes of a very young girl, in a simple, direct and without prejudices," explained Manuela Donghi. "I created a character deliberately nameless and relatives in the nursing home where the story is set just so they could tell the reality impartially. The emotional involvement of the protagonist comes slowly and corresponds to one of his inner growth, which pushes more and more to attend "that place" as she defines itself in a sort of personal diary ".
