Prometheus: review by Luciano Nanni

Review by Luciano Nanni

Literary n. 8 /2021

"Poetry. This is a precious little volume, whose characteristics distinguish it from many cheap publications: printing, layout, cover: an impeccable whole, because the eye also needs its part. Moreover, such a format was necessary because of the refined content, with an articulated formal subdivision, but consistent with the premise taken.

There is a significant relationship between poetry and music, first and foremost Musorgsky, a composer who "creates an extraordinarily bold and effective language" (Calvocoressi). (Calvocoressi), present here with the Pictures of an Exposition: it will be up to the reader to verify the 'ideal' connections between word and sound. The subject of Prometheus, by the way, has been put into notes by a considerable number of composers, including Beethoven, whose Creatures of Prometheus turns out to be a not insignificant work (Bruers)

Mosi poetically depicts an everyday life that conceals profound implications, as the translated element draws on an inspiration that is always alert and relevant to the theme. Let us consider that the mutations that occur over time also involve the architectural aspect: that "Christ hanging from the crossroads" seems to be the residue of a world that is opposed to human structures; but buildings change and the flow of humanity as a whole leaves its own memory, a trace that the centuries then tend to attenuate, without making it disappear completely. This is the power of myth: adapting to present-day society.

It seems to us that Mosi's operation in the literary field is to understand how far we have come and whether certain assumptions have really been fulfilled (Grotte). However, it is the most difficult conditions that establish a function, with solutions that appear innovative, at least from a poetic point of view: "in the cells the library devours the prison". Another subject to be tackled is madness: those graffiti engraved with icastic force tell us of a dimension that comes before logic, almost an absurd world caged in a functional and unimaginative reality.

Mosi does not limit himself to bringing back abstract mythologies, but delivers them to the present day: human beings have received the gift of fire; the problem is: what will they do with it? "
