The author, who conducted a thorough documentary research work at the Florence State Archive, this book uses the unpublished correspondence of the years 1648-1650 the resident Florentine Vincenzo de 'Medici with the Secretary of State and War of the Grand Duke di Toscana, to reconstruct the dramatic historical events of repression by the Viceroy of Spain in the Kingdom of Naples after the revolution of Masaniello.
