The reflected sky, novel winner of the 2018 Philosophy Award, recalls the story of a man born in 1358, the result of sexual violence. Abandoned, it is raised by the Benedictines. It demonstrates an acute intelligence that contrasts with its appearance. The vicissitudes of life lead him to the court of Federico di Fé da Gubbio. who loves being called "Stupor Mundi". It will be just the latter to involve him, in spite of himself, in situations that call into question the devil and his powers. He, desirous of a male heir who is late in arriving, decides not to address his prayers to God but asks for the intervention of the forces of evil so that his desires may be fulfilled in a short time.
"Il Cielo Riflesso" by Fabio Fineschi is a historical tale steeped in current philosophical and social thoughts that represent themes on which our modern society has been questioning for decades. The book is written in a masterly way and surprises the reader from its first pages for the accuracy of the sources and historical references as well as for the subjectification of the main character, an unhappy one who must face the discrimination and racism that lies in the incapacity typically human to distinguish between the appearance and the intellectual and emotional depth of their own kind. Fineschi's ability to incorporate misfortunes and theological, sociological and psychological themes into a story set in the late Italian Middle Ages makes the narrative fascinating and pleasant to read. A torrent of words and references that return the figures described as a succession of paintings outside of time and which must comply with a desire for continuity within an expressive and intimate logical thread that the narrator wants to inculcate in the reader. The eventual continuation of the story, which we hope will be the continuation of an engaging and passionate adventure such as the one described in this book, remains undefined, even if presumably foreseen.
