Is our life what we have always imagined?

Diletta is forty-five years old and is the wife of Edoardo and Federico's mother. During a casual stop in a motorway service shop he finds himself retracing the fundamental stages of his life and taking stock of what he wanted and what he did not get, trying to question his convictions.

The difficulties to get pregnant, the precarious jobs, unkind men and finally the betrayal of her husband, her "prince charming".

A novel narrated in the first person, with continuous flashbacks that bring the woman back in time, twenty years, thirty, to forty. And the comparison with the way of observing reality through the pages of a secret diary that Diletta wrote when she was sixteen.

A woman and a girl. The same person, yet, in some ways, two deeply different women. Perhaps only in appearance.

Coincidences or destiny? Can things simply be avoided or captained?
