What is striking about Davide Puccini's poetry is the author's confident attitude towards the world, which he views with a curiosity and empathy that does not exclude any of life's motions. Animali diversi ed altri versi (Different animals and other verses) displays, right from its title, the sonorous tension and expressive refinement of Puccini's poetic dictation, rigorously punctuated in endecasyllables and septenaries, but aimed at a prosaic lightness - following the example of masters such as Silvio Ramat or Giovanni Raboni - that makes them almost unnoticed, sometimes invisible: yet this is precisely the necessary scaffolding, without which the author's poetic gaze and thought could not act (from Giancarlo Pontiggia's preface).
