The collection, circumscribing a wide period of time, ranging from adolescence to the first poet's youth, is distinguished by a thematic and stylistic heterogeneity, in which features of the creationism of Gerardo Diego, surrealism, avant-gardism and the great poets of "Generation of '27".

At the same time, due to the presence of these heterogeneous elements and the effect of their rhythmic and lexical synergies, one already delves a gap between Hidalgo, considered today as one of the most important existentialist poets of the Second World War, and poets belonging to the dictates of movement Poetic prevalent in those years.
