Sereno Clerici Benedetta

Benedetta Sereno is President of the Apri le braccia Onlus Foundation , a Day and Residential Care Center for the Disabled born from the 30-year experience of the Voluntary Association Noi come voi (website fondazioneaprilebraccia.it).

Founder and soul of the Association first (since 1988) and then of the Foundation (since 2019), Benedetta has fought with passion and determination for dignity, integration, and social and cultural appreciation of diversity and has been able to put her experience as a mother of Federica, her daughter with severe intellectual disability, to good use, opening up to the needs of other disabled children.

Now that the Center is a beautiful and well-established reality, Benedetta writes to her daughter, to collect and retrace with her the emotions and memories, the sufferings and struggles, the courage and hopes, the achievements and gratitude that have marked more than forty years of their life together, shared with Gabriele, Federica's brother, her husband Marco and all the people who have supported and enriched their journey.

The tone of the Letter is affectionate, intimate, at once joyful and sorrowful, in it transpire the eyes and heart of a mother whispering and shouting her thanks to her daughter. Federica is a great gift, thanks to her Benedetta discovered our best part, and that natural light of hers gave her the strength and joy to transmit the same gift to so many kids like Federica and their families.
