The life of a magazine militant, as the history of Italian literature, runs out in a short time, while the weakening of the impetus ideal and the achievement of program objectives. "Atelier" is presented as an atypical case not only for the duration (founded in 1996 and still operating), but also for the liveliness of the debate and involvement that has known and still knows arouse. The quarterly basis, however, while it allows to accompany the analysis of issues as the subject of study and discussion on the part of Italian culture, from the other to its essence "fragmentary" prevents those who are not located in a position to follow the entire course, a comprehensive look on the route taken.

This publication is intended, therefore, to overcome this difficulty by drawing in a concise, yet comprehensive, the part of the work carried by the journal in the field of poetry during the first 19 years of existence.

Giulio Greek, starting from the "manifesto" published in the first issue, has tracked the areas within which "Atelier" has struggled to "renew" the writing in verse, dispersed in the shallows of experimentalism and neo-romanticism, through the reinterpretation of the twentieth century , the exploitation of young people and the study of contemporary authors, after reviewing the original aesthetic concept of the magazine, able to leave behind the formalism and structuralism to arrive at a renewed literary humanism in the inseparable union between words and reality.

This paper aims both as budget is as a reflection on the guidelines of poetry and contemporary criticism both as an invitation for further exploration in other areas explored by "Atelier".
