Patrizio Dimitri is full professor of Genetics at Sapienza University, where he carries out teaching and research activities dedicated to the study of epigenetic phenomena in human cells and in the model organism Drosophila melanogaster.

In the scientific field, he has published about fifty articles in international journals and several papers on the research evaluation system in Italy.

For several years, Patrizio Dimitri has led a 'parallel life', but intermittently, in the field of poetry. From 1991 to 1999 he was editor of the text and image magazine 'Kr991', participating in various public readings. In 2002, he was shortlisted for the Montale Prize. Some of his verses have appeared in various Italian literary magazines including "Nuovi Argomenti", "Gradiva", "Il Rosso e Il Nero", "ClanDestino" and "Kr991". In 2011 he published the poetry collection Fisiologia domestica for Giuliano Ladolfi.

His texts have been appreciated by various poets and critics, including Antonella Anedda, Giorgio Bàrberi Squarotti, Mariella Bettarini, Franco Buffoni, Sergio Chiapperini, Giorgio Linguaglossa, Valerio Magrelli, Roberto Mussapi, Giuseppe Pontiggia and Emanuele Trevi.
