Born in 1948 in Piombino, where he still lives, Davide Puccini combines his work as a philologist and literary critic with that of a poet and narrator. He graduated in 1971 in Florence in Modern and Contemporary Italian Literature with a thesis that was later revised and published under the title Lettura di Sbarbaro (Nuovedizioni Enrico Vallecchi, 1974). For Garzanti, after contributing to the anthology Poesia italiana del Novecento (1980), he edited the works of Giovanni Boine (1983), Pulci's Morgante (1989) and Poliziano's poesie volgari (1992, 20128); for Newton Compton he edited a complete edition of Ariosto's Furioso (1999, 20062, 20163). He has published in the series "Classici italiani" of Utet Il Trecentonovelle (2004) and Il libro delle rime (2007) by Franco Sacchetti; for Edizioni San Marco dei Giustiniani, Lettere ad Adriano Guerrini by Camillo Sbarbaro (2009); for Le Lettere, the Opere di Renato Fucini (2011, II ed. revised and corrected 2018); for Edizioni di Storia e Letteratura, Favole e Sonetti pastorali by Luigi Clasio (2016). He has collaborated and still collaborates with essays and reviews to several journals, including "Poesia", "Studi e problemi di critica testuale", "Studi novecenteschi", "Giornale storico della letteratura italiana", "Lingua nostra" and he co-directs "Letteratura cavalleresca italiana". In the Genoese monthly magazine "Il Gallo" he has for many years held a column that presents a poet with a concise anthology accompanied by a critical note.
His first collection of verse, Il lago del cuore (Lineacultura), came out in 2000, followed by Gente di passaggio (Genesi Editrice, 2005), Madonne e donne (LietoColle, 2007), Parole e musica (ivi, 2010), Il fondo e l'onda (Nomos Edizioni, 2016). He is present in numerous anthologies, including A mio padre. L'amore filiale nelle più belle poesie della letteratura italiana da Pascoli a oggi, edited by L. Luisi (2007); Umana, troppo umana. Poesie per Marilyn Monroe, edited by F. Cavallaro and A. Fo (2016); Oikos, edited by S. Strazzabosco (2020). He has two novels: Il libro e l'anima (LietoColle, 2015) and La stagione del mare (Ladolfi Editore, 2018).
