Livorno, 26 marzo 2015 - “Il Mediterraneo è un “sistema” che respinge le semplificazioni e, tra le altre, quella terribile dello scontro di civiltà, dai grandi orizzonti agli scenari quotidiani. Qui non c’è mai stato un muro per dividere cristiani, musulmani ed ebrei... Il Mediterraneo è il mondo della complessità... della globalizzazione ante litteram”: lo scrive Andrea Riccardi nel libro 'Le città vogliono vivere', edito da Giuliano Ladolfi, che raccoglie gli atti della prima rassegna internazionale 'Medì', svoltasi a maggio dello scorso anno a Livorno, e riunitasi per una seconda tappa a metà marzo nella Goldonetta, questa colta con il titolo 'Le città hanno un'anima'. Qui Riccardi, storico, fondatore della Comunità, ha compiuto una ricognizione in profondità e ampiezza del rapporto tra “rotte dell'anima” e sensibilità europea verso il Mediterraneo, uno dei cinque-sei scenari decisivi per la pace.
“A due anni dall'inizio del pontificato di Papa Francesco - ha sottolineato - si rivela sempre più significativo che il suo primo viaggio sia avvenuto nel cuore disprezzato dell'Europa: Lampedusa”.
